About this tool
- What is a DNS blacklist (DNSBL)?
- A real-time database of IP addresses known to send spam or host malicious content. Receiving mail servers query these lists during SMTP connections to decide whether to accept, reject, or flag the message.
- Why is my IP listed?
- Common causes: sending spam or bulk mail without proper opt-in, being part of a botnet, poor list hygiene causing high complaint rates, or sharing an IP with another sender who violated policies.
- How do I get delisted?
- Each blocklist has its own delisting process — usually a web form after you've resolved the underlying issue. Spamhaus, Barracuda, and SORBS all have self-service portals. Delisting typically takes 24–72 hours.
- Does one listing mean my mail is blocked?
- Not necessarily. Mail servers weight blocklists differently. A listing on a minor list may add a small spam score. A Spamhaus SBL or PBL listing is treated seriously by most major providers.
