About this tool
- What is DMARC?
- Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance. A DNS TXT record that tells receiving mail servers what to do with email that fails SPF or DKIM checks — monitor it (none), send it to spam (quarantine), or reject it outright (reject).
- What does p=reject mean?
- The strictest DMARC policy. Mail that fails authentication is rejected before it reaches the inbox. Start with p=none to monitor, move to quarantine, then reject once you're confident your legitimate senders pass.
- Why do I need DMARC?
- Without DMARC, spammers can send email that appears to come from your domain — a technique called spoofing. DMARC prevents this and is increasingly required by major providers like Google and Yahoo for bulk senders.
- What are RUA and RUF addresses?
- RUA (aggregate) reports are daily XML summaries of who is sending mail as your domain and whether it passes. RUF (forensic) reports are per-message failure notifications. Most domains only configure RUA.
